Forget time amongst a beautiful, nostalgic Japanese setting still in existence today
One step inside Gokayama Ainokura Gassho-style Village and the beautiful, nostalgic surrounds will make you will feel as though you have fallen through time to yesteryear Japan. Here, you will forget about everyday life, be greeting by the changing expressions of the four seasons and for some reason, feel at peace. Although great to visit during the day time, the light-up display held each season is simply too good to miss! The magical setting will steal your heart and ensure you fully savor this dream-like land. The observation area, where one can look down across the beauty of Aikura in its entirety, is certainly worth a visit. Houses with thatched roofs known as “gassho-style” are an extremely rare form of dwelling which can only be seen in this part of Japan. Even today, Aikura Gassho-style Village contains 23 gassho-style houses in which people still go about their lives.
Why not forget about your daily life and spend a peaceful moment in a little mountain village where the lifestyle of yesteryear lingers on?
